The nickname ‘Oriental Beauty’ was invented by no one less than the Queen of England when she first enjoyed it. At the time, Taiwanese used to call it ‘five-colored tea.’ This particular variety of Oriental Beauty moves away from its origins in the sense that only one color remains – a singularly dark, ebony hue.
Red Oriental Beauty takes all the hallmarks of any other true five-colored tea – a honey-like sweetness and a mild briskness – and enriches them with a darker note as of chocolate. Yet for all its intense oxidization and firing, Red Oriental Beauty preserves an impressively subtle taste, putting the heavier notes into proper balance with the lighter, sweeter notes, and mixing in a hint of nectarine to top it off.
